David Chan Masterclass
Heather Bixler, the Crescendo New York hub leader and the originator of the Crescendo Chamber Music Project, suggested the possibility of a masterclass for the New York Project musicians to David Chan, renowned concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera and long-time friend of Crescendo, she also invited him to talk about spiritual subjects relevant to the life of a musician. So the evening began with David Chan speaking about the ways that music and the Christian viewpoint connect within a musical life and career. Hear his remarks below.
In the next video, David Chan gives his thoughts and suggestions about the first movement of the Piano Trio in B fl at Major, D. 898, by Franz Schubert, marked Allegro Moderato.
In the final video, David Chan gives his thoughts and suggestions about the first and second movements of the Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 60, by Johannes Brahms, marked Allegro non troppo and Scherzo: Allegro.
Warmest thanks to David Chan, the players, and to Heather Bixler, who hosted the event.
